"It's So Good To Be Home"

I'm sitting in Lynette's house on Lynette's couch looking over some photos of the last couple of months. Lynette and Calla made a visit to our house in September while Anthony and his dad went out to Idaho elk hunting. No elks were harmed in the process.

Since Calla is numero uno around here, we just about had to take numbers. We held her, played with her and spoiled her.

We had family dinner and we spent the evening outside, doting on Calla. We've taken a lot of photos our our front stoop, but this time we forgot to take into account the shadows. We have to be judicious in these cases. The older the cousins get, the fewer photos they want to sit for. k

That's a kitty.

Here is a better photo of the grands, but not as nice a setting.

We gave this pound-a-ball toy to Lorene on her first "gotcha day". It has seen hard use with all the kids that have gone through our house. Calla figured it out pretty quickly, push a ball in and it comes out.

I took photos of all our kids looking out the front door waiting for Daddy to come home. I don't have a picture of all of the grands, but here's Calla.

Moments in Time

 September 28, 2022

On this day a baby was born.

3:16 AM, 6# 13oz., 18 inches

On this day, a much awaited baby girl to add to the story of the Troyer family.
A baby girl all the more precious following the loss of Bennett Wilder in April 2021.

Calla arrived after a harrowing labor very early Wednesday morning. We got the news at getting up time and started to make our plans. We arrived in Indiana Thursday night and got our snuggle time  at the hospital.

And now, on the way home to start a new chapter of life.

February 2020

I have too many photos selected with this month's post.
But, there it is...

A quiet evening at the Miller's

The third graders in our town hatch chicks for a science project so we got six chicks from a friend.
Paislee thought they were "so cu-uute."

Auntie and Niece

We had Zane for a weekend in February and Barry and Christian together the next Saturday after Barry's basketball game.
Zane is into cooking and while making a sundae bar isn't really cooking, it sure is fun to eat.

Barry and Christian wanted s'mores from the fireplace, so they had them, and since Barry wanted to "cook" something, too, he asked for yellow cake with chocolate frosting and that's what we made.

From Barry

A Narwhal I think.

Two days worth of eggs.  It shows the variety we get.

Just cool.

There were some very nice days in February this year.

August Birthdays

Paislee turned three at the beginning of the month.  We had birthday party in the park which the kids took full advantage of, preferring to play on the play set rather then eat supper, cake or participate in the other parts that makes a birthday party, included the birthday girl.

These very nice photos are not mine.  My camera doesn't take great photos anymore and Lorene edits these.

One of her presents was a set of hair do-dads and between that and her new bike, she didn't want any other presents.  Seeing that, her great grandma said, "next time we don't need to get so many."

Barry is 8 now.  I made the mistake of telling him about the rainbow cake I made for Lynette's birthday one time several years ago.  He called a couple of days before the party asking if I would made a rainbow cake for him.
So I did.
The one I made for Lynette was in October not one of the hottest weeks of the summer in August.  I only had a few problems. I put one layer in the wrong order and it broke in half when I took it off. While frosting between the layers, the layers wanted to slip and I ended up with something that looked more like the Leaning Tower of Pisa than a birthday cake. I did get it straightened out with the help of the fridge.  Then I kept it downstairs in the cooler basement until the party.

This is what Barry thinks about the present from me.  He knows what's in it, it's what he asked for, and one of his favorite things.
Ensure.
