August Birthdays

Paislee turned three at the beginning of the month.  We had birthday party in the park which the kids took full advantage of, preferring to play on the play set rather then eat supper, cake or participate in the other parts that makes a birthday party, included the birthday girl.

These very nice photos are not mine.  My camera doesn't take great photos anymore and Lorene edits these.

One of her presents was a set of hair do-dads and between that and her new bike, she didn't want any other presents.  Seeing that, her great grandma said, "next time we don't need to get so many."

Barry is 8 now.  I made the mistake of telling him about the rainbow cake I made for Lynette's birthday one time several years ago.  He called a couple of days before the party asking if I would made a rainbow cake for him.
So I did.
The one I made for Lynette was in October not one of the hottest weeks of the summer in August.  I only had a few problems. I put one layer in the wrong order and it broke in half when I took it off. While frosting between the layers, the layers wanted to slip and I ended up with something that looked more like the Leaning Tower of Pisa than a birthday cake. I did get it straightened out with the help of the fridge.  Then I kept it downstairs in the cooler basement until the party.

This is what Barry thinks about the present from me.  He knows what's in it, it's what he asked for, and one of his favorite things.
Ensure.

Water, Water, Everywhere

We went to The Farm in August.  Jim likes to go and look over his property, even though it is the hands of responsible and trusted renters.  We took the 4-wheeler and rode up and down and all around except in the places where there was too much standing water.

Jim has never seen so much water in the dam.

Looking over the dam.

I think a corn field is a beautiful thing.

The deer blind.

By the dam.

I took this picture on this trip.  This the the leftover water from the July 8 storm.

This is what that spot looked like in April after the water from the March 19 flood subsided.

Here's where we crossed the creek because the usual crossing is the one in the pictures above.
This is a dry creek almost all the time.

This is a picture of the dam on a normal year, taken in Sept. 2017

Fun At The Park

This summer I had the boys at my house on Fridays.
The last two days before school started I watched them at their own house.
It's what they chose.
One afternoon we went to the park.
I think they need playgrounds for big kids, too.

Jumping

Climbing

And Climbing

And Climbing

And More Climbing

I had Zane show me why it was so easy to climb.

The boys are in school now, and I'm still busy with garden produce,
and other office and household tasks.
Jim and I do manage to have a little fun, but that will be shown in other posts.
